What are the ingredients in Vitawomenz?

Vitawomenz is a combination of Vitamins, Minerals and Antioxidants all designed for conception and pregnancy health, both for mothers and babies. Vitawomenz contains many different key ingredients to optimally support your conception and pregnancy health.

Importantly Vitawomenz contains 500µg of Folic Acid.

Women that are planning a pregnancy or who are in the early stages of pregnancy are advised to take at least 400µg of Folic Acid four weeks before pregnancy and up to twelve weeks after.

Supplementing with 400µg is sufficient to support healthy foetal brain development.

Studies on the Ministry of Health website show that folic acid can help ensure healthy development of babies in early pregnancy when taken at least one month before conception and for 12 weeks after conceiving.
Refer to these studies and other information here: http://www.health.govt.nz

Iron is also another critical element within Vitawomenz. According to the New Zealand Ministry of Health, 40% of women aged 15 – 44 years have an inadequate intake of Iron. Adequate iron stores in pre-pregnancy play a role in reducing risk for iron deficiency and anaemia during pregnancy. Sub-optimal iron stores are difficult to replenish once pregnant.

Iodine requirements when pregnant also increase due to a marked change in thyroid function. It is recommended that the requirement for pregnant women be at a level of 200mcg per day, which is the volume contained in one capsule of Vitawomenz.

The ingredients in Vitawomenz are:

  • Folic Acid – 500 µg
  • Iodine – 200 µg
  • Iron – 12.5 mg
  • Omega 3 – 300 mg
  • Vitamin D (as D3 400 IU) – 10 µg
  • Vitamin E – 20 mg
  • Vitamin K – 70 µg
  • Vitamin C – 100 mg
  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) – 1.5 mg
  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) – 2 mg
  • Vitamin B3 (Niacin) – 20 mg
  • Vitamin B 5 – 10 mg
  • Vitamin B12 – 6 µg
  • Biotin (Vit H) – 150 µg
  • Magnesium – 150 mg
  • Zinc – 15 mg
  • Copper – 1000 µg
  • Selenium – 30 µg

Good nutrition is important for Woman of all ages all over the world, but as you can assume there is an even greater importance and need for that nutrition when they are pregnant of breastfeeding

Pregnancy is a time when nutritional needs and much higher than that of an “everyday” woman who is not trying to conceive or indeed pregnant. Meeting increase needs has a positive effect on the health of both the mother and her unborn child.

The effects of nutrition whilst the foetus is developing and growing during pregnancy last for a lifetime and everyone wants to see children inherit a legacy of good health for the future. At Vitawomenz we want to see women enjoying a healthy pregnancy without the negative effects of poor nutrition on their health and the health of their babies.

Energy requirements increase in pregnancy by circa 14 percent, This is because if the increase in maternal body weight, an average 10 – 15 percent increase in basic metabolic rate (BMR), the energy costs of the growing foetus, and maternal changes in pregnancy.

The importance of ensuring good maternal health, before, during and after pregnancy is so important. There is strong researchable evidence that suggests that nutritional status prior to pregnancy strongly influences foetal and infant outcomes.
So in view of this, the goal for any woman will be to optimise their own health by way of gaining good nutritional support before conception.
